The next drive was a short 71 miles to the town of Natchez Mississippi along the Natchez Trace trail. We actually camped across the river from Natchez in the town of Vidalia La.
Natchez survived the Civil War pretty much intact. Before the war, it was a elite town that had many of the cotton barons building massive homes to impress themselves and others. Most of those homes survived and there are many guided tours you can take to view them.
