After Bemidji, we went south (mroe or less) to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. This area is rich in gangster history: John Dillinger, the Barker gang and others all hung out in St. Paul thanks to a cooperative Police Chief.
The arts community is very strong since Longfellow wrote his infamous poem about the area.
We found the Minneapolis/St. Paul area to be quite nice and worthy of a return trip
